Pool Filter/Pump starts for a second, then shuts off?
I own an above-ground pool, and have a problem. Last night the hose that pumps water into the pool came loose, causing me to lose a bunch of water, and caused it to lower below the skimmer/water intake. Well, as you can guess, this caused the pump to run dry without any water.
So here's what I've figured out so far. The pump is plugged into a GFCI outlet, which had been "tripped". I pressed the reset button, and attempted to turn the pump back on. It will start for 2 to 3 seconds, before the GFCI outlet trips again and shuts it off.
So what do you think the problem is, and how could I fix it? I wouldn't think that the motor was fried, or it wouldn't even start for those couple of seconds would it? And it shouldn't be a problem with the outlet, because I just replaced it a few months ago when rain got in it, and fried it. (The outlet now has a water-proof cover over it to preven that).
So I'm stumped. Any help will be amazing.
